Welcome to the Freaking Nomads Newsletter, your weekly dose of stories, insights, tools, and opportunities for digital nomads and remote workers building a life without borders.
Hey Freaking Nomads,
This week, I was working from a café and I ended up chatting with the person at the next table.
A brilliant, super friendly guy from the States.
We talked about work, places, and the usual nomad things. Then he told me his story.
His kids had grown up enough to live on their own. And once they did, he decided it was finally time for something he had dreamed about for years.
So he started his nomad journey.
Now he’s traveling full time while managing his freelance job. Laptop, new cities, new people. The whole thing.
What struck me most is that he didn’t let made-up rules stop him.
Not “it’s too late.” Not “this is for twenty-somethings.” Not “what will people think?”
Those rules don’t exist anywhere. Society invented them.
Talking to him made me realize something I don’t think we say enough: nomads are some of the bravest people out there.
Leaving what’s familiar, building a life without a blueprint, being the odd one out at family dinners.
It takes an unconventional kind of strength, and a mentally tough one.
And this man had it.
So if you’re thinking you’re too young, too late, too this, too that, please don’t.
Meeting him changed something for me too. It was one of those conversations that shifts your trajectory a little, in the best way.
And I think that’s the beauty of this lifestyle. You never know which random café table will change the way you see your own life.
Age really isn’t a limit. It’s just a number.
Until next week, keep going!
Luca

The first thing the guy at the café (and honestly a LOT of other people I've met over the years) noticed was my laptop stand.
It’s the Nexstand K2, and I’ve been dragging it around for over three years. Every bag, every café table, every Airbnb desk that was clearly not designed for humans!
I stopped thinking about it a long time ago, which is probably the best thing you can say about something you carry everywhere. It just works.
Here’s why I’ve stuck with it:
Weighs 234 g and folds down to about 36 x 3.8 x 3.8 cm, so it disappears into your bag
8 height settings from 14 to 29 cm, which means you can sit or stand
Fits laptops from 10" to 17" and holds up to 9 kg
Open design that lets air flow around your laptop for better ventilation
Anti-slip rubber feet so it stays put
Opens and closes in one motion
Comes with a carrying sleeve and spacers for ultra-thin laptops
1-year warranty and 30-day returns
Pair it with an external keyboard and mouse, because raising the screen only helps if you’re not typing on the built-in one.
